If you live or travel to the United States, you know that crossing the border can be very slow and confusing at some ports of entry.
There is not always clear information about how long it will take to cross.
This app aims to provide more accurate and constant information about the state of the gates towards the United States at all registered ports of entry on its BWT portal; both in Canada and Mexico.What the app can doThe app gives you different ways to see an estimate of how long it will take you to cross: for locals, each report includes a reference to the place where the line starts.
For other people, it includes the number of cars, people, or the corresponding means of conveyance, plus the estimated waiting time for that line.You can activate notifications for when there is a short wait time and configure them to your liking so that you are not disturbed at a time you do not want to receive notifications.
If you want to receive notifications about all reports, you can do that too!Where does the app get the information from?The information is obtained from two sources: user reports and CBP (Customs and Border Protection) reports.
User reports are an important part of the app, as people using the application can report the status of a line in real time.
CBP reports are a backup to these user reports; when there is no information reported by users, CBP reports will be displayed.
The information is obtained from the Border Wait Times service provided free of charge which can be accessed at the following link: https://bwt.cbp.gov which will take you to the sites home page.
To go to the official CBP website go to: https://www.cbp.gov where you can check information of this institution outside of their Border Wait Times service.The app has a source section on each of the report cards where you can see details about the origin of the information and whether it is a CBP report or a user report.
To view each report, simply go to the Border Wait Times portal at the link listed above (https://bwt.cbp.gov) and search for the port and conveyance of interest.Although the app may use data from the U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, this app is not endorsed in any way by Customs and Border Protection or any other government institution.
The app is of private domain.
